Adding Video to Your Post

In Technology News by FL Computer Tech

Wasabi S3 Video Option #1

This option uses Wasabi S3 storage and a public share link. Amazon S3 storage is also an option. This option uses the Elementor Video Widget and the Text Editor Box in a Flexbox container. Because it uses the Video Widget, it offers more control and style options than the options below.

Google Drive Video Option #2

This is an embedded video in the “Text Editor” blog post box. This option uses a shared public link, copying the embed code into the “Code” section of the text editor.

Google Drive Video Option #3

Same as Option #2 but instead of pasting the code in the Text Editor, “Code” section we are using the “HTML Widget” and inserting our code there.

1. Log In and Access Your Page

  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard.

  • Navigate to the page or post you want to edit. Click Edit with Elementor to launch the Elementor visual builder.

2. Add the Video Widget

  • In the Elementor panel (on the left), use the search bar to type “Video.”

  • Drag and drop the Video widget onto your desired section of the page.

3. Configure Video Source and URL

  • With the widget selected, look for the Content tab in the left panel.

  • Under Source, choose where your video is hosted:

    • YouTube

    • Vimeo

    • Self-Hosted (for videos you upload directly)

  • Paste your video’s URL in the Link field.

    • For YouTube or Vimeo: copy the share link from the platform and paste it here.

    • For Self-Hosted: upload your video to your WordPress Media Library and insert the file URL.

4. Adjust Video Settings

  • Customize playback options:

    • Start Time: Set when the video should start.

    • Autoplay: Toggle to have the video play automatically when visitors load the page.

    • Mute and Loop: Control audio playback and repeat settings.

    • Player Controls: Choose if the regular video player controls are visible.

5. Style Your Video

  • Switch to the Style tab to:

    • Add borders, box shadows, or custom overlays.

    • Change video aspect ratio or spacing.

  • Use Advanced settings for margins, padding, and responsive controls.

6. Preview and Publish

  • Click the eye icon (Preview Changes) to see how your video looks.

  • When satisfied, click Update or Publish to go live.

Tips for Optimizing Video Embeds

  • Use external hosting (YouTube/Vimeo) for performance and simplicity —self-hosted videos give more control on content but require additional steps and knowledge.

  • Set a custom thumbnail for a professional look.

  • Compress self-hosted videos to reduce load times.

  • Ensure mobile responsiveness with the widget’s settings.

By following these steps, you can easily embed captivating videos into your WordPress site using Elementor. This not only enhances user engagement but also gives your content a dynamic, modern edge.
